Mechanic Job History - Paul Watt (Director)

Paul started his mechanical engineering career whilst serving in the British Army. He moved into a regiment where he trained as a Vehicle Mechanic (VM) Level 1, with the REME. He was responsible for the servicing, repair and replacement of mechanical parts fitted to all types of Army vehicles. These included motorcycles, cars of all models,  right through to 4x4's and tanks. The inspection and modification of these vehicles included welding and adapting parts to suit the individual needs.

The qualifications and diversification gained by this expertise has put Paul in great demand through the years that followed. When released from the British Army in 1991, he moved to the USA for 10 years and worked for Manhattan Chevrolet, Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles, California as a service and repair mechanic for 6 years. He continued this trade but moved onto vehicles that he was more passionate about: '50s-'70s Muscle Cars. He discovered a niche trade for good quality car restoration and custom work.

On returning to the
UK it was decided that the skills and expertise learned in the Army and the USA could be put to good use for the many thousands of American vehicle enthusiasts who struggle to find people that can provide a high quality service, together with sufficient knowledge to maintain their American Dream!

As an active member of the American car world and also the Kent Area representative of an American vehicle owners club, Paul had first hand knowledge of the requirements and also shared the same passion as the owners of their American vehicles. Therefore, with this idea in mind, Paul opened V8 American Car Services in 2004, offering his clients a comprehensive range of services, from general servicing, Classic & American vehicle restoration work, to "one off" special projects.

Being located near Dartford in Kent, it makes V8 American Car Services ideally situated for vehicle owners in the South & South East of England, being close to both the M25 and the Dartford River Crossing, as well as 20 miles from Central London.

V8 American Car Service's expertise ranges from your everyday European and Japanese vehicles through to Hot Rods, Low Riders, Drag Racers and NASCAR vehicles - there isn't much that Paul hasn't got extensive experience in.
